Up and Out Builds Ltd completed this single storey rear extension project in Hoddesdon, significantly increasing the ground floor living space and transforming the rear elevation of the property.
The project began with the removal of the existing rear wall, with structural steel beams installed and temporarily propped using heavy-duty acrow props and lifting equipment to safely support the first floor while the new opening was formed. Timber roof rafters were then constructed to form the new pitched roof structure above the extension.
The completed exterior features a fully tiled pitched roof with multiple rooflights integrated into the slope, providing generous natural light to the interior below. Large black-framed bifold doors span the full width of the rear elevation, opening the new space directly onto the garden and creating a bright, contemporary feel.
Internally, the new extension has been drylined with insulated plasterboard, with the walls and ceiling brought to a smooth plaster finish throughout. Recessed lighting has been installed into the finished ceiling, and the space connects seamlessly to the existing property through a wide open-plan opening.
